Wind Energy

The headline news  - FCC at a meeting with the parish  council and anti-turbine campaigners last night announced they are withdrawing the two turbines nearest Cranfield  from their application.

That is obviously good news for residents who are closest to the original sites but it still leaves turbines within the 1.5km exclusion zone (about a mile) between turbines and residential, adopted as policy by the Parish Council. FCC reps said the two withdrawals were prompted by sound levels exceeding ETSU regulations. That was a bit scary because ETSU is regarded as a pretty easy test to pass and it prompted inquiries about the identified levels and what the sound figures are for the two other Woodend turbines still in the frame.

In fact, councillors and parishioners pressed for a range of data including the base levels for sound in the Vale and the raw data from FCC's monitoring mast. FCC said they didn't release the raw data (only their professional consultants' "interpretation") but the PC is to write formally to the company requesting this information. There were also complaints from public about how previous correspondence about he turbines had been ignored.
