Trees

We're looking for  trees for the extension to the village cemetery. Some pressure from at least one parishioner for a native species. What about an oak, quercus, bang in the middle as a mark of jubilee year?  We also need a couple of other trees to link the old and new parts and diminish the difference.

Tree grief

The Parish Council is getting some grief about trees that have been cut down at the entrance to the Recreation Ground.

It might seem grim but this work was only approved after a pretty careful inspection  of all the mature trees in the parish. Many of them were old, dangerous, dying or all three.

Ok just like the parish council I hear, noises off.  The action we have taken reflects our awareness of the need for constant maintenance of our tree population. They might look pretty but if your five year old grand daughter was under a falling trunk  you might feel differently. Damned if we do and double damned if we don't

Churchyard

Spent a part of the morning with Church warden Andrew Pearson looking at potential tree hazards.  There doesn't seem to be any problem with the tree that was overhanging the north west path - well pruned back - but there is another tree over hanging the footpath and touching the telephone line

Cemetery extension tree planting

This is a rough indication of proposed specimen tree planting in the cemetery. The main issue is whether roots of the central trees will adversely affect any grave plots. Currently getting some advice on this. For those not familiar with the cemetery, the extension is the area on the right bounded by the hammerhead, the road and the turning circle.
