Hedgehogwatch

Here's a great spring project - especially for schools perhaps. What's the state of the Hedgehog in Bedfordshire? Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity is inviting local people to send in sightings:

Hedgehog numbers have declined by over a third over the last ten years, the same rate as tigers. We are currently mapping the distribution of hedgehogs in the county – if you see one, please let us know here.

This project, which we are running in partnership with the Bedfordshire Biological Recording and Monitoring Centre and the Bedfordshire Natural History Society, will help our understanding of what is happening to hedgehogs, so that we can target conservation measures accordingly and apply for necessary funding.

New beginnings for Taste of Bedfordshire

Do you enjoy local foodstuffs?  If so click here.

Tastes of Bedfordshire – the one stop shop for local produce in the area has been handed over to Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) by CBC

The step forward comes after the Council transferred the brand to BRCC in a bid to boost the already well-known and reputable brand.
Tastes of Bedfordshire currently supports over thirty Bedfordshire craft producers, seventy food producers, 10 farmers markets as well as promoting over 40 restaturants and cafes that buy produce locally.
