Gimme my money please

We are supposed to be getting an ATM at the Coop in Mill Road. Long overdue. Hopefully it will be voice operated.

In the pipeline

Broken down house
According to the planning minutes (draft, to be approved) of the planning committee, Central Beds Cllr Sue Clark is trying to find out what CBC can do in relation to the appearance of the Carpenters Arms in its current boarded up, unsightly state.

Due for approval these evening
General purpose minutes (draft to be approved) state: PCllr D Allen reported residents are having problems crossing the revised Mill Road junction, particularly those from Portnall Place. It was RECOMMENDED that CBC is asked to advise on the suitability of placing a pedestrian crossing in the area of the Cooperative store.

Entitlement or what?

I was pleased  an interested to read the report below to the last PC meeting.  Just before Christmas a massive great 4x4 plonked itself on the new footpath between the Coop car park and the road. Sense of entitlement or what?
After discussion with Amey, post-traffic calming, IN and OUT signs are to be erected in the parking area at the Coop.  CBC enforcement has also offered to come out with a camera and issue tickets to cars on yellow lines between the road and the Co-op car park.
There will be no bollards put on the grass verge, which was destroyed by a lorry as the bollards will be knocked over.  But bollards will be installed near to Budgens.
Work will be carried out in Crane Way to stop ponding.
Next week the PC will be considering whether to find the 50 per cent cost of building a pedestrian crossing in Mill Road.

Coop Food

I spotted this on facebook this morning and want to recommend it to readers. I have checked and yes it is operating at the Coop in Mill Road. So please share that unused tinned food.  As the recession and austerity measures hit hard, some of the most disadvantaged people are affected by hunger and the rising cost of food. Collected and distributed by the Salvation Army these resources will be well used.

We have an exciting week this week. The Co-operative Food in partnership with ITV Daybreak and The Salvation Army has launched an exciting new social action campaign to help thousands of people in need this Christmas.

The #YouCANHelp campaign is fronted by Daybreak’s presenter, Gethin Jones, and launches today on the breakfast TV show.

The week-long campaign will see around 800 Group and 200 CRTG Food stores receive donations of canned food from customers, which will be placed in special collection points in store. The cans will then be collected by Co-operative Food for distribution to people in need from all walks of life in each region via The Salvation Army.

Follow us on @TheCooperative or #YouCanHelp campaign for more information on how to get involved.
