Coop Food

I spotted this on facebook this morning and want to recommend it to readers. I have checked and yes it is operating at the Coop in Mill Road. So please share that unused tinned food.  As the recession and austerity measures hit hard, some of the most disadvantaged people are affected by hunger and the rising cost of food. Collected and distributed by the Salvation Army these resources will be well used.

We have an exciting week this week. The Co-operative Food in partnership with ITV Daybreak and The Salvation Army has launched an exciting new social action campaign to help thousands of people in need this Christmas.

The #YouCANHelp campaign is fronted by Daybreak’s presenter, Gethin Jones, and launches today on the breakfast TV show.

The week-long campaign will see around 800 Group and 200 CRTG Food stores receive donations of canned food from customers, which will be placed in special collection points in store. The cans will then be collected by Co-operative Food for distribution to people in need from all walks of life in each region via The Salvation Army.

Follow us on @TheCooperative or #YouCanHelp campaign for more information on how to get involved.
