Old A421 closed for repair

Remember the A421, or the "old A421". It's now called the C94. What a come down. I remember feeling pity when engineers said it had been "de-trunked" with the opening of the "new" A421. Ouch. Anyway, enough of the crocodile tears - watch out for this immediate road closure on the old A421/C94 due to a burst main.
Emergency Temporary Road Closure at the above location to enable burst main works to be carried out in safety.

Length affected: At junction with Hill Crescent

The closure is expected to take place from 19th - 25th June – 24 hours Access may be allowed from time to time according to local signing.

Alternative Route: Proceed straight ahead along the C94 (old A421) towards M1 junction 13 at the crossroads turn right onto Salford Road and continue to the junction Cranfield Road and turn right to continue to junction with Bow String Link, turn right continueing onto High Street and Marston Hill to the junction with Beancroft Road, turn right and continue to old A421 roundabout, take 3rd exit and continue to Brogbrough and vice versa. Round the houses

Hopefully this won't be a major inconvenience but watch out tonight, tomorrow, Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning: access to the M1 south via the A421 will be closed off. Looks like you will be taken back up to 14 and down again. Great early start to your day

A421

I went for a drive on the A421 yesterday. It was a sort of winter wonderland both for the wintry reasons and the wonder. It seems to have been built on time and presumably to budget. Within a few months we'll all wonder how the 'old' 421 was the main road at one time. Its a bit like thinking about the A422 going right through Astwood at one time or the 421 running through the centre of Marston.

A421

Looks like the new A421 is nearing completion. At least you can see the signs for Cranfield now up on the side of the carriageway. Nice to have our existence confirmed. The turn-off from Junction 13 to Salford/Hulcote is dramatic and it has "Cran" in one of the carriageways. More proof that I didn't just imagine that I lived in there.
