Since we have been on historical or near historical themes I'll muse about the suggestion that a small area of the churchyard should be set aside as a wild flower nature area.
One interesting suggestion on Wednesday night at PC was Delise Ball's that it should be located around the 'plague pit'. I only know about this because Delise is big on it. It's not black death plague (1348) but one of the many other periods the plague visited England in the middle ages. The pit is where remains were hastily interred. Like Captain Swabey we should be identifying these key features of our history and drawing them to the village and wider world's attention. And given the sombre nature of the site a wild flower area seems a life enhancing way of marking it.
