It's good to see the Bedford and Milton Keynes waterway project making progress, symbolised by the John Bunyan. I'm not sure what Pilgrim would have made of it but I, personally, think it could make a huge difference to Bedford, a town that has been looking for an identity and an economy since the 1970s. I say economy because it's only just got connected to the motorway system after years of relying on a dirt track AKA the "old" A421 and it has felt the usual high street shopping pressures from both Interchange and Milton Keynes. As a hub for a major recreational waterway system linking the Broads and the Grand Union the future looks much better. Bring it on.
