I'm looking forward to attending a special event organised by BLARS.

BLARS? Sounds awful, I know, but it stands for Bedfordshire and Luton Archives Service which is marking its centenary year. Please note  its email below with information about events that may be of interest. I will do feedback when I have attended, highlighting resources available. "Bedfordshire & Luton Archives Service is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2013.

"Parish and Town Council records dating back to the 1890s form one of our largest – and growing – archival collections, which is increasingly used for historic and administrative research.

"We are inviting a representative from your Council, as one of our major depositors of records, to join us for a lively evening where we will showcase the exciting plans for our centenary year, including major exhibitions at Wardown Park, Luton (spring) and at The Higgins (autumn), as well as a fun quiz at the Marston Vale Centre (23 May).  There will also be an introduction to our on-line resources, as well as a chance to see ‘behind the scenes’."
