Charming minutes recording the Parish Council's planning for the 1953 coronation. Ideas for us today or not?

There was clearly much more entertainment to be had in Cranfield during 1953 than today.

Possibly the MCC might care to investigate the commercial possibilities of "comic cricket".

Also, I have to laugh at the idea of bussing the villagers over to one of the hangars to watch a "television show" of the Coronation.

Given that the average TV of those days was about 9 inches wide I doubt whether many would literally have got a look-in.

Some of it is very quaint and very charming. The current Jube committee is however trying to keep things simple in a spirit of austerity maybe
