There was clearly much more entertainment to be had in Cranfield during 1953 than today.Possibly the MCC might care to investigate the commercial possibilities of "comic cricket".Also, I have to laugh at the idea of bussing the villagers over to one of the hangars to watch a "television show" of the Coronation.Given that the average TV of those days was about 9 inches wide I doubt whether many would literally have got a look-in.
Some of it is very quaint and very charming. The current Jube committee is however trying to keep things simple in a spirit of austerity maybe
